What is pain reprocessing therapy?

Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) is an effective and evidence-based treatment for chronic pain. Based in neuroscience, PRT rewires neural pathways in the brain in order to deactivate pain. Researchers using this method found that 98% of patients improved in the experimental group after 4 weeks and 66% of the patients were pain-free or nearly pain-free at the end of treatment. Average duration of chronic pain was 10 years. These improvements were largely maintained one year later. Read the study in JAMA Psychiatry here. This approach is also explained in Alan Gordon’s book “The Way Out.” Learn more about pain reprocessing therapy on the website here. (https://www.painreprocessingtherapy.com/)

What is neuroplasticity?

Neuroplasticity is our ability to change the automatic responses in our brain. We can rewire our brains to get out of our stress response of fight/flight/freeze and be more calm, grateful and self compassionate and feel more connected to ourselves and others. My work with you is based on Dr. Rick Hanson’s work described in his book “Hardwiring Happiness” and his courses entitled Positive neuroplasticity training and Positive neuroplasticity training for professionals. This work has been found effective and published in: The Journal of Positive Psychology in Dec. 2021 by Rick Hanson et al. Read the study here.

My Journey

I was a busy working mother of two under a lot of stress. I started developing symptoms in 2005 and by 2015 had been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I became bedridden 23 hours per day with weakness, dizzines, fatigue, headaches, brain fog and imbalance. I have since recovered using neuroplasticity based brain retraining techniques and am enthusiastic to help others and to raise awareness in the medical field about the emerging unified mind/body model of health.
